How does your own ordering website work with your POS system?
Published · By Foodyx
Short answer
With your own ordering website, guests place takeaway or delivery orders directly on your restaurant's website. If that website is connected to the POS system, orders arrive in the POS and the order flow digitally, instead of someone copying them. Foodyx Webshop is connected to the Foodyx environment: orders arrive in Foodyx POS through POSHUB.
What is your own ordering website?
Your own ordering website, also called a webshop or ordering site, is your restaurant's own online ordering channel. Guests look at your menu and order directly from you, for takeaway or delivery, depending on what you offer.
That is different from a delivery platform such as Thuisbezorgd or Uber Eats: there, the guest orders in the platform's environment, alongside other restaurants.
How does an online order reach the POS?
The guest places the order on your website. An integration passes it to the POS system, and from there it goes to the kitchen. At Foodyx, the website is Foodyx Webshop and the integration is POSHUB, to Foodyx POS.

Your own ordering website compared with Thuisbezorgd or Uber Eats
Your own ordering website and a delivery platform do different things. On your own website, guests order under your name and in your house style, and you decide what your ordering environment looks like. A platform is an external marketplace with its own audience; its costs and conditions are agreed with the platform itself.
You don't have to choose: you can use a platform to reach new guests and your own website for regular customers. How platform orders reach your POS is explained in Connecting Thuisbezorgd to your POS system and Connecting Uber Eats to your POS system. See also Thuisbezorgd and Uber Eats in one POS.
Do you pay commission on orders through your own website?
That differs per provider: some charge a fixed monthly price, others a commission or transaction fees per order, or a combination. Check before you choose.
For Foodyx Webshop, Foodyx charges no commission or fees per order: you pay a fixed monthly price for the module. Any costs from your payment provider are separate.
How do orders reach the kitchen?
A connected ordering website delivers the order to the POS system. From the POS it goes to the kitchen printer or kitchen display, just like an order at the counter.
At Foodyx, online orders arrive on your POS and kitchen display, just like orders in the restaurant. Read also how a KDS or kitchen display works.
Can your own ordering website run alongside other channels?
Yes, if your POS system supports those channels too. The orders from your website then join the same order flow as those from the restaurant, the phone and the platforms.
At Foodyx, Foodyx Webshop, Thuisbezorgd, Uber Eats, Kiosk and QR Ordering work side by side in the same Foodyx environment. Read more about orders from multiple channels in one POS.
How does Foodyx Webshop work?
With Foodyx Webshop you have your own ordering site for takeaway and delivery, in your restaurant's house style. Guests choose for themselves; delivery orders arrive with the address details. Your menu is in categories, with choices and extras per product and the allergens for every dish.
Online payment runs through Mollie, with Wero / iDEAL and credit card among others; the money goes straight to your Mollie account. Orders arrive through POSHUB in Foodyx POS. How the webshop works together with the kiosk and QR Ordering is explained under online ordering for restaurants.
